United Way works with local nonprofits to address the root causes of significant issues in the Concho Valley. This collaborative network allows us to wrap our efforts around a problem and tackle it from many angles, producing measurable outcomes that are changing lives in the Concho Valley.
Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley
The Alcohol & Drug Awareness Center for the Concho Valley (ADACCV) provides detox, residential, and outpatient treatment for substance use disorders to males and females who are mostly indigent, sometimes homeless, and cannot afford private-pay treatment facilities. Services include specialized treatment for pregnant women and women with children. Detox and residential treatment are provided at the Journey Recovery Center. This facility opened in March 2020 and has 12 detox beds and 60 residential treatment beds. ADACCV provides services to clients from throughout the Concho Valley and serves clients from across the state.

Children's Advocacy Center
United Way Funded Programs: CASA & Hope House
Children’s Advocacy Center of Greater West Texas, Inc. serves a fifteen-county region through its programs, including Hope House, Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Therapy, Family Services, and Youth Services. Hope House conducts forensic interviews of child victims and provides education and care management, court preparation support, and family advocate services. In addition, Hope House serves as the Multi-Disciplinary Team Coordinator, working with local Law Enforcement, Child Protective Services, the District Attorney, Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs), and medical professionals. LPC services are available to children through the Hope House program and include trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. CASA provides children in crisis, whose home is determined by a court of law, with a friend of the court, social services, referrals, and court preparation. Family Services and Youth Services offer development, education, and support to families through parent education and parent mentorship.

Concho Valley Community Action Agency
Since 1966, Concho Valley Community Action Agency (CVCAA) has worked to support low-income neighbors across 14 counties in the Concho Valley by stabilizing households and helping families transition out of poverty. CVCAA’s services include utility and rental assistance, home weatherization, veteran assistance, case management, free tax filing, a hygiene kits, and homeless services.

Concho Valley Regional Food Bank
CVRFB’s mission is to feed our neighbors by removing barriers, meeting people where they are, and providing meaningful, people-first solutions that fight hunger across the Concho Valley. Across 13 counties, CVRFB partners with pantries and hot meal sites. CVRFB also sends out its Veggie Van to deploy fresh fruits & vegetables at rural pantry distributions; serves neighbors with direct distributions every month; sends out more than 1,400 bags of food to school kids with its weekend SnackPack program; and provides emergency boxes to neighbors outside of distribution hours.

Concho Valley Turning Point
Concho Valley Turning Point provides a lifeline for those seeking a fresh start. Their transitional housing facilities, including a newly added women's home, offer supportive living environments as residents work to rebuild their lives. They collaborate closely with Tom Green County Parole Division, hosting meetings and providing a welcoming space for parolees. Recognizing the transformative power of faith, they facilitate faith-based recovery groups, anger management classes referred by agencies, and offer nourishing meals. Their doors are open for Bible study groups and Celebrate Recovery meetings, fostering spiritual growth. To address basic needs, they maintain an accessible food pantry for all clients. Concho Valley Turning Point empowers individuals of both genders to overcome challenges and embrace a brighter future.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library
Established by country music legend Dolly Parton, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is an international program that mails free books monthly to children from birth to age 5. United Way of the Concho Valley is thrilled to bring Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to children ages 0-5 in the Concho Valley. A priority at UWCV is to ensure all children are school-ready by kindergarten and grade-level readers by 3rd grade. Studies show that early literacy is important to a child's success in school and even in adulthood. Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is an excellent tool to help get books into the hands of children at an early age and to encourage the importance of reading.

Family Shelter
The Family Shelter provides a safe home environment to women, men, and children who are fleeing domestic violence. The program provides adults and children with a safe living environment while they rebuild their lives due to the violence. Services include shelter, danger assessments, legal advocacy and court accompaniment, professional counseling, case management, referrals for housing and benefits, educational advocacy for children, and much more. All services are free and available to any victim of domestic violence, either residentially or non-residentially.

Galilee Community Development Corporation
United Way Funded Programs: Helping Hands
This program is designed to repair and rehabilitate homes of low-income elderly in the Concho Valley. Galilee CDC will restore the homes to make them safe, secure, and weatherproof. Contractors and volunteers complete the repairs at no cost to the homeowner.

San Angelo Clubhouse
San Angelo Clubhouse empowers adults living with severe mental illness, such as major depressive disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, and bipolar disorder, to find opportunities for personal growth, social interaction, and professional development while being part of a supportive community. San Angelo Clubhouse is one of over 350 Clubhouses in 34 countries, all of which are part of an international movement for the dignity and rights of people with serious mental illness.

San Angelo Early Childhood Center
The SAECC helps our families and our community by providing high-quality care for children ages 7 weeks to 5 years, with tuition rates based on a family's ability to pay. Trained staff and volunteers provide nutritious meals, loving care, and age-appropriate developmental and educational opportunities for pre-school children in low-income working families.

As a branch of the San Antonio Food Bank, we are part of a larger network dedicated to fighting food insecurity across Texas (Feeding Texas) and nationally (Feeding America). United Way Funded Program: Reduced-Fee Counseling
This program provides quality counseling and educational services at a reduced fee for residents of the Concho Valley. The Center works to ensure that individuals and families seeking counseling have access to vital counseling services and resources, regardless of their socioeconomic status and ability to pay.
United Way Funded Program: Veterans Services
This program was developed to assist any Veteran (regardless of branch, time served, or character of discharge) and their direct dependents in accessing top-quality, evidence-based mental health services and using case management to identify community resources.
